The company is a key component in the port’s role as the centre of activity for offshore oil and gas industry in North West Europe and a marshalling centre for oilfield equipment exports, and as the principal commercial port serving a wide variety of industries in the North and North East of Scotland.
Matthews Quay is a purpose built facility with 1650 square meters of transit shed, 2100 square meters of outside storage and office accommodation.
Versatile, deepwater berths accommodate all types of shipping, including roll-on/roll-off vessels using a twin-vehicle ramp at all stages of the tide.
There is a direct inventory link with H M Customs and Excise enabling Customs clearance to be implemented within minutes of the cargo’s arrival.
LOGISTICS
Logistics services to the offshore industry have included total support for drilling programmes by Statoil in the offshore Irish Republic and also providing logistic support for Transocean North Sea backload business.
STEVEDORING/CARGO HANDLING
The work force is fully trained in all aspects of stevedoring/cargo handling including all aspects of health and safety procedures.
A modern fleet of handling equipment includes:
40 Tonne Container-handling forklift which can also be converted to operating as a crane.
2 x 16 tonne pipe clamp forklift
8 tonne forklift
3 x 3 tonne forklifts
1 x shunting truck
The wide Varity of cargo handled by Sea-Cargo includes all types of oil-related equipment, for example steel pipes, chemicals and heavy lifts.
CONTAINER HANDLING
Sea-Cargo provides a unique service for the de-vanning and loading of deep sea containers. With the use of the 40 ton container handling forklift all containers can be offloaded to the quay and the contents can then be safely de-vanned or loaded.
With a purpose built frame for the handling steel tubulars we can lift the pipe without the requirement for dragging the pipe thereby avoiding any damage to the thread protectors.

PORT AGENTS
Sea-cargo Aberdeen is also agents for a number of shipping lines including:
UAL/Kestrel liner Agencies with a regular service from Aberdeen to West Africa, including the main oil-related ports- Onne,Lobito,Lunada,Point Noire,Soyo and Malabo.
A full ship agency service is also provided with in the port. A spot charter service for cargo vessels to and from specific destinations is also provided.
