New service with Brazilian company Nicomex targets offshore industry

Cargo handling and marine operator, Sea-Cargo Aberdeen, has launched a Cargo Consolidation Hub for the export of oil & gas equipment and other freight destined for the growing Brazilian market.

In conjunction with Rio de Janiero-based importation agent, Nicomex, Sea-Cargo is to provide the freight forwarding community with a local collection service in Aberdeen or elsewhere in the UK, with delivery to oil and gas destinations in Brazil, including key centres at Niteroi and Macae.

Jim Cargill, Director of Business Development for Sea-Cargo, who has direct experience of the industry in Brazil since the mid-1990s, said:

“Petrobras, the state oil company is spending more on exploration and development, local content requirements may reduce in the years ahead and the already major international involvement is expanding – all creating demand for equipment and opportunities for companies in the UK.

“With Nicomex, a well established Brazilian company, we identified the need for comprehensive export services, in particular from Aberdeen, minimising costs and interfaces and improving efficiency of delivery. The positive response reflects the industry’s keen interest in the Brazilian market.”

While the hub’s main focus is on oil-related exports, it will also serve other sectors, as well as imports.

Gilberto Castro, Director of Nicomex, continued:

“The Brazilian market is growing at a very high rate and we and our clients have been keen to see innovations in the arrangements between the UK and Brazil. Nicomex and Sea-Cargo are able to offer a one-stop shop to the freight forwarding industry, with benefits for all involved.”

Ole Saevild, Managing Director, Sea-Cargo said:

“Sea-Cargo is delighted to be involved in this innovative approach to supporting the growing Brazilian market and we are especially pleased to be teaming up with a company of the calibre of Nicomex. We have considerable experience in-house of the Brazilian market, and now look forward to offering our clients a new and comprehensive package of services.”
